TEARS Animal Rescue is the lifeline.
They provide a critical safety net for animals in the Cape Town area of South Africa. By providing free sterilisations and subsidised medical care to low-income households, TEARS ensures that financial hardship never stands in the way of an animal’s right to a healthy, dignified life.

The Mission
TEARS exists to rescue, treat, rehabilitate, and rehome hundreds of animals each year.
Their mission is built on accessibility. By visiting vulnerable communities daily, they collect and transport animals for life-saving sterilisations, vaccinations, and parasite control. Every animal rescued is brought to the TEARS Veterinary Clinic for expert assessment, ensuring that the homeless and unwanted are given the medical foundation they need to find a forever home.

6,072 Sterilisations
By performing over 6,000 sterilisations annually, TEARS is effectively breaking the cycle of overpopulation and suffering. This proactive approach prevents thousands of animals from being born into lives of hardship, ensuring a more sustainable and compassionate future for all companion animals.
Daily Community Outreach
TEARS provides subsidised medical assistance to households earning under R12,000 per month, ensuring no pet is left behind due to poverty. Our mobile units visit vulnerable communities daily to provide basic healthcare, vaccinations, and transport for animals in need of urgent clinical care.
852 Successful Adoptions
While we celebrated 852 adoptions last year (487 cats and 365 dogs), the work never stops. At any given moment, TEARS is home to over 250 cats and dogs undergoing rehabilitation. Your support sustains these animals daily as they prepare for the day they finally find their permanent families.
